چکیده

TSL materials for ground support were initially intended to be used as an alternative to mesh or shotcrete. The first trials on TSL technology were initiated in Canada in the late 1980s (Archibald et al., 1992). Early research led to the development of a polyurethane based product. In the 1990s, numerous advantages in terms of speed of application and minimizing transportation of materials were realized. In the late 1990s, applications included a hybrid polyurethane/polyurea based mixture (Tannant, 2001). Meanwhile in 1996 in South Africa, a latex-based product was developed and tested, and then later another product followed (Wojno and Kuijpers, 1997). Researchers in Australia have also been exploring the use of TSLs for rock support and have conducted field tests in Western Australia. Many products have been tested so far and it was found that most did not possess adequate physical or chemical properties. Although the production of a number of products has been stopped and their names are not referred to any longer, newer products are continuously developed and introduced. Recent developments on TSL support continue to receive increasing attention by the mining industry around the world due to considerable operational benefits, with the potential to greatly reduce mining costs. There were about 55 mines around the world in 2001 that were considering the use of TSL for rock support, and this number is increasing steadily. The greatest interest is in North America, Australia, and South Africa (Tannant, 2001).

Laboratory Investigation of Support Mechanism for Thin Spray-on Liners

ABSTRACT: Rock support is the basis of any underground mine and many open cut operations. Ground support methods have evolved over the years with the current trend to use bolts, mesh and shotcrete. Thin spray-on liners may be the next step replacing mesh and shotcrete, however being a relatively new product is not well understood and no standard testing procedures exist to determine the strengt...

A comparative evaluation of soft denture liners

Statement of problems: Two potential problems commonly identified with a denture base incorporating a resilient liner are a failure of the bond between the acrylic resin and resilient liner material and colonization of Candida albicans over time. Aims: This in vitro experimental study evaluated the shear and compressive bond strength as well as colonization of Candida albicans of commonly avail...

Effect of Zinc Oxide-Eugenol Temporary Restorations on Bond Strength of Composite Resin

Introduction: Effect of zinc oxide-eugenol (ZO-E) on bond strength of composite is equivocal. The aim of the present study was to determine if ZO-E affects shear bond strength. Methods: For the purposes of the study, extracted human molar teeth were ground so thatcomposite rods could be bonded to dentine. In group 1, dentine was not exposed to ZO-E. In group 2,...

Tensile and shear bond strength of hard and soft denture relining materials to the conventional heat cured acrylic denture base resin: An In-vitro study.

BACKGROUND The condition of the denture bearing tissues may be adversely affected by high stress concentration during function. Chairside Denture (Hard and Soft) reliners are used to distribute forces applied to soft tissues during function. Tensile and shear bond strength has been shown to be dependent on their chemical composition. A weak bond could harbor bacteria, promote staining and delam...
